Meta has officially rolled out its experimental app, Pocket, to users across the United States. This app, which was initially introduced in Brazil last month as a test market, empowers users to create small, interactive games through AI prompts, which can be shared on a scrollable feed.
The app stems from Meta’s earlier acquisition of the team behind the vibe-coded gaming platform, Gizmo. These interactive creations, referred to as “gizmos” by Meta, are designed to respond to user interactions such as touch and phone tilt. They can incorporate sound effects and even snippets of favorite songs.
Users can also utilize images from their camera roll or capture new photos to enhance their games. Once created, these interactive experiences can be posted to user profiles, allowing others to save, remix, or share them further.

The launch of Pocket aligns with Meta’s initiative to popularize AI-driven creation tools, building on previous projects that included AI-generated imagery through its Meta AI app and video creation via an experimental platform named Vibes.
With Pocket now available, it joins a suite of recent standalone mobile applications from Meta. CEO Mark Zuckerberg has attributed the rapid development of these applications to AI-enhanced software capabilities, which facilitate quicker testing and deployment of new concepts.
In a statement to analysts during a July earnings call, Zuckerberg mentioned, “Earlier this year, we shipped Instagram Instants. We also just launched Forum, a stand-alone Groups app, and Seller, a stand-alone Marketplace app. I expect it to become a lot easier to ship new apps. So we are planning to build out more ideas and use our recommendation systems to scale them.”
In addition to the recent launches, Meta has also explored AI bedtime stories and has released a Meta AI app for Mac this week.
As part of the introduction of Pocket, Meta will be discontinuing the original app acquired from Atma Sciences. Josh Siegel, a developer from Gizmo, expressed a bittersweet sentiment about the transition on social media, reflecting on the dedication behind Gizmo while expressing enthusiasm for what Pocket will bring.
It’s bittersweet to shut down Gizmo, a labor of love by so many people for the last couple years, but I’m excited for Pocket and what’s next.
